She is still just as passionate about her writing today as she was when her first novel was published in 1981. Seventy of Brown’s works have been named New York Times bestsellers. Some of these include Tailspin, Sting, Mean Streak, Seeing Red, Friction, Rainwater, and Deadline. So, let’s learn a little more about who this amazing author is as a person.
Sandra Brown was born on March 12, 1948. She was born in Waco, Texas, and was awarded a Doctorate of Humane Letters from Texas Christian University in 2008. Her novels have been translated into an astounding 34 different languages. Brown has an evident burning passion for writing, but she also has a huge heart. She actively supports the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the Happy Hill Farm, which is an educational foundation for children at risk that was founded by her mother in 1975, and multiple literacy advocacy groups.
French Silk, Smoke Screen, and Ricochet are all incredible works by Brown that were actually made into television movies. What an honor! She was also named “Thrill Master” by the International Thriller Writer’s Association which is the highest and most distinguished award this association gives. She also served as president of Mystery Writers of America.
