Featured Author of the Month: Lee Child
Lee Child was born as James Dover Grant in October of 1954 in Coventry, Warwickshire, a metropolitan city in England. The British author is known for writing thriller novels and is best known for his Jack Reacher novel series. In 1974 at the age of 20, Grant studied law at the University of Sheffield, but he had no plan to become a lawyer. In 1975, Grant married his wife Jane, and they currently reside in New York with their daughter Ruth.
The Jack Reacher series has become wildly popular, with 24 novels published in the series. The story has been adapted into successful action thriller films starring Tom Cruise as Reacher. The series is about a man who leaves the US army and roams the US taking odd jobs and investigating suspicious and frequently dangerous situations.
In 2019, Lee Child received the Author of the Year award, a lifetime achievement, at the British Book Awards. He was appointed the Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for services to literature.
