Featured Author: Debbie Macomber
This month’s featured author is none other than Debbie Macomber. A #1 New York Times bestselling author, Macomber brings to life the complexities of love and relationships. Debbie is known for her Christmas-time fiction, which makes this time of year her favorite.
Macomber serves on the Guideposts National Advisory Cabinet, is a YFC National Ambassador, and is World Vision’s international spokesperson for their Knit for Kids Charity initiative. Debbie and her husband, Wayne, are devoted grandparents who live in Port Orchard, Washington, the town which inspired her popular Cedar Cove series.
One reason many people love reading Macomber’s books is that they are ensured a happy ending. Macomber says, “When I read, I make an emotional investment in a book, and I want to come away with satisfaction and hope. I believe my readers feel the same way.” Debbie says the writers she wishes to emulate are Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, Pearl S. Buck, and Willa Cather.
Debbie is best known as “The official storyteller of Christmas”, because of her annual winter time release of new Christmas books. Five of her novels have even been turned into Hallmark Channel movies, and if you know anything about Christmas and happy endings, you know why Debbie holds her title. Macomber said, “I love Christmas songs, the food, the family gatherings, the decorations, the hope and goodwill we all want to share in during this special time.” Macomber’s latest Christmas novel is called Jingle All the Way.
