December’s Featured Author: Clare Mackintosh

Born in Bristol, England, Clare graduated from Royal Holloway University with a degree in French and Management. Right after graduation, she joined the Thames Valley Police where she was promoted to Sergeant then Inspector within the decade she was there.
After spending 12 years in the police force, Clare turned her attention to writing full-time. She states that her police background was great training for her writing because she came in contact with many different types of people. In fact, some of the characters in her novels are based on the type of people she worked with as a police officer. Clare also uses cases she worked on as an officer to inspire the plots of her books which contributes to the authenticity and depth of her work. Her unique background paired with her outstanding writing skills keeps readers on the edge of their seats while reading each suspenseful thriller.
